Descriptions
To ensure branch operations are carried out with outstanding operations by making sure Bank Internal Branch Control Operating Manual, Management circulars, procedures, rules and regulations, policies and BOT guidelines, and ensuring the Bank’s assets are securely kept and realizing branch business goals in cooperation with colleagues.
Responsibilities
Branch Operations
- Ensure proper cash ATM and Vault reconciliations are properly done with proper narrations captured if required.
- Work with the branch team to ensure branch objective relating to increasing deposits, account opening and increasing branch non-interest/commission objectives are met by observing underlying controls set.
- Checking on branch operations to prevent fraud as well as realizing early detection of errors to ensure branch compliance to operational and credit procedures.
- Perform analysis of the customer deposit and loan accounts and identify leads for more business and ensure correct approved limits against each account and expiry dates, and those operating above limits are appropriately followed up.
- Support the branch management in implementation of issues as raised from various reports such as audit/Compliance/Risk to ensure that the Branch Audit Risk Rating is always SATISFACTORY.
- Ensure all branch mandatory checks are done as per guideline and properly filed.
- Ensure branch snap checks are properly done both strong room and cashiers’ cubicles against cash; account balance controlled stationery and customer security documents, and record the findings in snap check reports as per guideline.
- Ensure adherence to confidentiality and bank policies for overseeing compliance to standing instructions/bank procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identification of risks which have not been covered by procedures and report to stakeholders for rectifications.
- Monitor and Manage Anti-money laundering controls in the bank to ensure that branch operations are in line with bank policies and procedures.
- Ensure on job training are provided to the branch staff as end-users addressing the specified branch operational area include; bank procedures, policies and regulations for understanding and utilizing them accordingly.
- Participate in the preparation of branch budget to ensure all branch expenses are valid and genuine, and advise Branch Manager on all branch matters regarding branch operations and controls.
- Monitor the branch suspense accounts and ensure timely reconciliation.
- Monitor and Review branch operations to ensure that they are offered in line with bank procedures and that they do not go against statutory requirements.
- Prepare reports, daily control returns, recommendations and feedback for submission to immediate supervisor on developments and progress of the unit business to ensure proper record keeping in line with bank requirements and guidelines.
- Ensure 100% KYC compliance for all accounts opened, closed and dormant reactivated, specimen signature cards and mandate files for compliance to approved policies and procedures.
- Monitor Account Opening, card application processes to ensure that customers’ accounts are opened in line with bank policies and procedures.
- Monitoring of branch cash repatriation transactions process and teller liquidity and are all operating within set limits to ensure that smooth branch approved cash-holding limit is observed and achieved without any reminder from HQ as guaranteed bank operations in line with the cash policy and procedure.
- Timely reporting of suspicious transactions as per the procedure and whistle blowing of suspicious activity to ensure that there are no frauds and forgeries loopholes.
- Ensure the call-over of all daily transactions transacted are timely done include checking tellers’ daily cash balance and summaries against journals and computer reports and documents are properly filed.
- Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor or higher authority.
Credit Operations
- Check whether disbursements are completed in line with policies and procedures.
- Check whether credit and security files are maintained as per procedure requirements.
- Check effectiveness and observance of controls designed to ensure that all statutory documents are in place, current and valid eg. insurance, title deeds, land rent etc.
- Check branch compliance matters pertaining to recovery such as timely delivery of demand notices.
- Ensure appropriate and timely closure of control issues raised by internal and external reviewers.
- Review to ensure all conditions precedent for credit facilities are in place and the necessary deferrals/waivers are sought from the Head of Credit.
- Follow up with respective branch team members to ensure exceptions issued in the credit granting process are monitored and timely addressed.
- Monitor that the branch conducts BCC meetings, standing agenda as stipulated in the BCC charter is being followed, minutes are appropriately captured and directives and matters arising followed up.
- Attend Branch Credit Committee meetings as an observer.
- Report unethical conducts by branch team members regarding credit activities.
- Follow up with lending officers to ensure that all conditions and security documents are satisfied.
- Monitor data integrity in the system to ensure that data held within the MIS for respective branch is correct i.e. interest rates, tenors, etc
- Critically examine security documentation for completeness.
- Check and report all overdrawn current accounts and ensure they are normalized.
- Conduct formal surprise visit to validate assets and stocks of customers pledged as collaterals to the bank.
- Ensure that risks identified in the credit processes are mitigated and properly managed to acceptable levels.
- Review and confirm branch self-credit inspection reports
- Provide on the job training to other branch members on compliance with Credit Operating Manual and Credit Policy

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent and at least a professional banking certificate
- At least 3 years’ experience with good background of Banking operations and control.
- Strategic business awareness coupled with clear understanding of Bank’s products, handling and building customer relations.
- Also, should be aware with Performance Management and Change management.
- Self-empowerment to enable development of open communication, teamwork and trust that are needed to support performance and customer service-oriented culture.
